Orange, Vodafone and VOIP - reduced functionality of multi-function devices
Here's an interesting article:

I do understand why some service providers might wish to cripple handsets in this way, but I don't agree that it should be done. The Orange model is particularly odd. They'll encourage you to subscribe to their Internet service, with a Livebox to make calls via the Internet, but if you take a Nokia N95 from them they'll prevent it from making calls via the Internet.
