Research and Learning (2006)

Sept 10th Anniversary Party at Freeman Centre
Today, we had a party to celebrate the 40th anniversary.
I was very impressed to see many prominent scholars commenting not only on the SPRU’s research but also on research culture. Actually, I have always been impressed with the SPRU’s culture: non-hierarchical among faculty, students and administrators and humble faculty member (or taking students’ work seriously). Today I learned, for the first time, that this culture originated from Prof. Freeman.
As a DPhil student researching on developing countries, I was also happy to learn that research on developing countries has been important part in SPRU’s research and was very pleased to hear Prof. Freeman thinks that there needs to be more of it.
